About

Hi! My name is Sam and I’ll be your English tutor.

Want to read this page in your own language? Scroll to the bottom of the page and use the Google Translate button 🙂

The important bits:

I’m TEFL qualified with over 4 years teaching experience having worked abroad in China, Thailand, and Spain and now the UK.

I have experience teaching children and adults both face to face and online. I specialise in teaching adults conversational English and helping to improve pronunciation and listening skills.

Below you can see copies of my TEFL certificate and also my DBS Check or police check which proves I’m not a criminal 🙂

I’m a native English speaker from the UK. I have a southern accent which is clear and easy to understand – you can watch my introduction video below to hear how I sound.

The certificates:

Below are my certificates related to teaching. The first two images show my TEFL certificate and the final two images show my certification in teaching at key stage level 2.

More about me:

I enjoy the darker things in life so you might call me what’s known here in England as a Goth. I adore cats and make sure I pet them if ever I see one out in the street. My favourite food is curry but I’m also a fan of Thai and Chinese food from having lived in Asia for some time.

My favourite way to relax is to go on a very long walk and to explore nature with my camera. I like taking landscape photos and so I plan to keep traveling in the future as and when I can. (You can see some of my photography in the video below).

I also have a day job at the moment where I work as part of a team to help feed people who love chicken 😉

At home, I love experimenting in the kitchen with the challenge of cooking dairy and gluten-free foods. I’m currently learning beginner level Spanish as well as dabbling in Japanese. In the past, I’ve had lots of experience with learning new languages and so I know what it’s like to be the student too.

My aim is to help adults build confidence in speaking English so that they can improve their language skills whether it be for work, study, day-to-day living or even just for fun. My classes are relaxed and my courses are designed to be fun, not hard work. Feel free to email me if you have any further questions about learning English with me or about any of my courses 🙂
